Filler Masterbatch

Colorex Filler Masterbatch — calcium carbonate based white granule

What is Filler Masterbatch?

Filler Masterbatch is an additive concentrate produced by optimally dispersing high-purity ground calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) within a polymer carrier, delivering both cost and performance advantages in plastics production. At Colorex, our coated calcium carbonate and proprietary dispersion technology provide filler masterbatch solutions that reduce your raw-material costs while preserving the physical and aesthetic quality of your final product.

Significant Raw-Material Cost Savings

Filler masterbatch replaces part of the expensive polymer raw material in your formulation, substantially lowering total cost. With usage rates ranging from 10% to 40% depending on the application, it drives down unit cost without compromising product performance. Our formulations keep the melt flow index (MFI) balanced even at high loading ratios, protecting your process efficiency.

Higher Mechanical Strength and Rigidity

Thanks to the nucleating effect of calcium carbonate, the final product gains rigidity (stiffness), dimensional stability and thermal resistance. It particularly improves impact and flexural strength in raffia, woven bags and injection parts, and increases production capacity by shortening the cycle time during moulding.

Better Printing, Writability and Surface

In film and bag applications, filler masterbatch increases surface matteness, improves ink adhesion and print quality, and enhances film-opening performance with its anti-blocking effect. Our coated CaCO₃ technology raises whiteness and opacity values while eliminating surface dusting.

Moisture and Gas Removal (Drying Effect)

For businesses using recycled raw material, our special filler-antigas combinations bind the moisture and volatile gases they contain, preventing porosity (fish-eyes), surface bubbles and odour problems. This ensures stable, smooth production in both virgin and recycled formulations.

Environmental Benefit and Compliance

As a natural mineral, the use of calcium carbonate reduces the consumption of petroleum-derived polymers, making a positive contribution to your carbon footprint. Our products contain no heavy metals and can be manufactured as series compliant with the relevant international regulations (REACH, RoHS, EU 10/2011) for packaging and food-contact applications.

Polymer-Based Product Range

Our filler masterbatch products are manufactured by selecting the carrier polymer according to your final application. The table below summarises our main grades by carrier polymer, typical CaCO₃ loading ratio and recommended fields of use; please contact our laboratory for your specific requirements.
